3. Click on the Desktop tab
4. Click on the Customize Desktop… button
5. In the General tab, click the ” Restore Default ” button.
6. If you don’t have My Computer, My Documents, My Network Places and Internet Explorer, then you can remove it again yourself by unchecking the boxes.
7. Click on OK button

Go to start than / computer / users / desktop it may be there you just cant see it. This way you can check your desktop folder.

and toshiba tablet review

toshiba portege tablet get I have an old laptop and desktop tower I would like to either recycle or sell for parts. My issue though is my computers broke, and I have no idea of how to format it – I do not have the original disks to do so anyway. So what are my options to ensure that no one will be able to get my saved passwords, credit card information, etc.?

Take your Hard Drive out and replace it with another.

if ther broke just remove the hard drives and physically destroy them (the hard drives)

remove hard drive, smash hard drive with a hammer into little bits, there you go. You aren’t really going to be able to sell anything for parts most likely, send it all the to recyclers with smashed hard drives and you have nothing to worry about.

You can dl programs that will over write all the data on the hard drive many, many times which will make it difficult to retrieve, yet not impossible. Most likely no one cares enough to go through that much work.

Better yet, remove the hard drives and just put them in usb enclosures, and you have a few extra usb hard drives.

Make sure your find a state approved recycling center that comlply with all regulations of safe and proper recycling and data erasing from your broken computer.
