I have lots of old devices lying around with rechargeable batteries that I want to get rid of. Cell phones, laptops, cordless vacuum cleaners, etc. Everyone says not to throw these things in the garbage but I don’t know where or how to recycle them. My city only recycles plastic and aluminum. What should I do?
does your city have a dumpster day where you can get rid of unusual stuff contact your city rep.
take them to the city DUMP…………………….
Go to target, to the customer service counter, there should be a box which has two sides. One is for old cell phones, the other for batteries. IKEA also has a similar recycling program!
Take them to your local Radio Shack. No worries. If they are Alkaline batteries, then just throw them away.
toshiba tablet laptop get I have two old laptops, both with faulty power cord-to-battery functioning. I don’t use them anymore and i want to get rid of them! I saw www.laptopheaven.com and it looks great, cash for my junk! But I don’t know if it is a dependable site. I have information on both computers and they won’t turn on to let me erase the disks. Is this a trustworthy site?
If not, what would be the best way for me to recycle/get rid of these two laptops? WITH the sensitive information inside.
Whats the make and model of those laptops? I’m always being asked if I can find any that still work….or can be fixed since im a pc tech type person.
I’ve fixed about a dozen power cord to laptop broken sockets.
if you have a windows cd, you can boot up on that and delete the partitions on the hard disk…should kill your info.
you open the laptops …connect their hard drives to your computer that works and shred/format everything lol…replace it and do whatever you want with it i do it all the time
Take out the hard drives, use the biggest magnet you can find, like a 8″ speaker or similar and leave it beside it for a few minutes. then replace them.
That should make it imposable to recover the data
If you can’t turn the computers on, open them up and remove the hard drives. Then you can use an external USB enclosure to back up and erase the drives with your good computer.
Ebay. You’ll get top dollar there. Just be very specific. HDs are easy to remove if you’re worried. Just sell them without the HDs.
some manufacturers have re-cycling programs
you can put them on Craigslist and take calls from interested parties
give them to a church- halfway house for men or women most places can fix the pc’s and they can use them —i give all my old cells to the battered womens house so the can call 911 when they are in trouble
THE MAGNET DOESNT WORK—– look up on google —-never give advice unless u know the answer
